Business Spotlight
Mrs. P Magic Library

Mrs. P Enterprises, LLC, was founded in 2008 by Hollywood team Clay Graham, Kathy Kinney and Dana Plautz. After having built successful careers in television and New Media, the three creators of MrsP.com were brought together by a love of reading and a desire to help spark that same passion in young people everywhere. The company endeavors to expose young people to great books and stories through a celebrity storyteller and to spark their imaginations and creativity with on-line games and writing contests. Its production offices are located in Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles, California.

There are 28.5 million tween girls age 9-15 in the U.S. today. However the tween of today seems anything but in between. She is not only under cultural pressures, her body is developing at a faster rate with puberty hitting two years earlier (based on national statistics) than in the 1940’s. These physical changes are forcing girls to need personal care products at ages much younger than in past decades.

Eight-to twelve year olds in this country already spend more than $40 MIL a month on beauty products, according to the NPD Group. And, according to market-research firm Experian, the ages are getting younger- 43% of 6 to 8 year olds are already using lipstick or lip gloss; and 12% use other cosmetics.

The pressure to be beautiful has never been more front of mind for tweens or potentially dangerous.

Experts believe preteen and young teen girls may be particularly sensitive to even trace levels of chemicals found in traditional skin care products given the complex hormone changes that take place during the transformation to adulthood. (Environmental Working Group study published in September 2008)

So how do we properly address the newly developed skin care concerns of our daughter’s young skin while keeping her safe?

Two natural product industry insiders have a solution. Kim Grustas, mother of two girls and Grace Hvasta-Petrarca, mother of four girls created Good For You Girls, a new category in the natural skincare market that fills the void between successful baby care and adult skincare- for the underserved and growing 9 –15 year old market.

Having used only natural baby products, Kim and Grace wanted to continue their commitment to naturals when it came time to show their daughters the proper way to take care of their faces. In researching existing natural products, they realized most were for adult skin with anti-aging formulations and ingredients too harsh for young skin.

Inspired to develop safe, 100% natural skincare, Good For You Girls represents a girls first skincare line which includes a cleanser, toner and moisturizer that effectively cleans the skin of impurities, balances delicate pH and helps protect young skin from the elements- for the 9 –15 year old market.

Good For You Girls, skincare is formulated with only the purest, natural ingredients that are 100% safe for young skin. That means they are free of parabens, petrochemicals, sulfates, phthlates, dyes and irritants but best of all, the packaging is visually appealing to the fashion and beauty sense of young girls.

At Good For You Girls, founders Kim and Grace believe the skincare product line does more than protect young skin from harmful chemicals, “It helps girls establish a lifetime of healthy habits using products that she loves and moms approve.”

The Good For You Girls Complete Skin Care kit retails for $24.99 and an entire hygiene line is planned to launch before 2010.

Princeton Tours

If you really want to know about us, here's the uncut version:

Mimi Omiecinski - moved here in 2006. It took her about two seconds to realize shewould never leave this adorable town. It took her another two seconds to figure out  she didn't need a car. She started biking and noticing all the landmarks, the architecture, the people... She started googling Nobel Prize Winners and actually recognizing them on the street. After she audited three courses at the University it was a done deal... transplant or not, Wanna Be or not, she had fallen in love with this town. Shewanted to create a business that would honor all of Princeton - her history, culture, residents, university and merchants.

There were only a few problems: She wasn't a historian, she wasn't a professional cyclist, she wasn't from Princeton, she didn't go the University and, of course, never led a tour group!

  • History - She collaborates with Princeton Public Library and Historical Society of Princeton. She doesn't present anything as fact unless they tell her she can... there are even spots in the tour where she reads verbatim the facts because she's terrified to get it wrong.
  • Cycling (and Walking) - There are two wonderful bike shops in Princeton. Kopp's, next to where Princeoton Tours is located and first stop on the tour, is the oldest bicycle shop in America. Jay's, further down on Nassau, is also a locally owned business. She buys her entire bike inventory between the two shops and the bikes are serviced by mechanics that have been trained and certified. Princeton Tours endorses the Princeton University Cycling Team who assists the company with tour route consultation and silly guerilla marketing efforts when they have time. People can feel good that ALL the equipment and services are purchased locally in Princeton - no exceptions!
  • Being a Wanna Be - Here's the deal. She'll always be an outsider in Princeton. It's OK with her and she hopes it's OK with you. She  just wants to do her best to sustain Princeton's gorgeous landscape as well as her academic, economic and cultural diversity.
  • Becoming a Full Service Tour Company - This has been the easiest part - because the town is dang amazing! She  started as a bike tour company; then corporate event planners wanted to have a walking option so we expanded; finally, some New Yorkers wanted a Day Trip Service. She  never meant to create a full service tour company but that's what happened!

Princeton Tours has some neat programs we're proud of - I'll tell you more about them when we're biking, walking or riding:

Our "Princeton Gives Back" Program completes the circle of sustainability by recycling abandoned bicycles to send to Africa, which many know, can save an entire family. When you take a tour, you can write a note on the next bike headed to Africa.

Our Vocational Program provides training and long term employment for teens and adults with developmental disabilities. Hopefully, Princeton Tours will become a vibrant source of purposeful employment to some of our town's most greatest personalities!

Princeton has inspired the lives of so many,
and she's not done yet!

Read about how the Liberia Education Project Is Helping a Community

Liberia Education Project believes education is the key to unlock the potentials of our young people, which are in short supply in Liberia; especially, for those disadvantaged young boys and girls in the towns and villages of rural Liberia who have no hope of ever stepping foot into a classroom.

The organization is established to provide quality and affordable education to needy children and adults in Liberia.

During the past year the group  has gathered school supplies and shipped three barrels to Liberia with the help of several churches and schools in the USA. Students of three selected schools in three different counties will benefit from these supplies.

The Liberia Education Project’s next step is to work to provide the life changing education to the needy and forgotten children in the villages and street corners of Liberia. The Liberia Education Project, Inc. seeks support and funding to accomplish school construction and renovation, provide educational materials/supplies to needy schools and students, seek funding for scholarship opportunities for deserving students and teachers, conducting adult literacy programs, conduct teacher training programs, community health education, conducting vocational training, and provide safe drinking water for schools and communities/villages.
